Case study: OLIO – the food sharing app

For connected social enterprises, curation is as important as creation.

OLIO is a food sharing app on a mission to reduce food waste by connecting those with surplus to those that want/need it.

The team behind OLIO also run Zero Waste Weekly, a newsletter full of tips, tricks and… well, news, on all things sustainability.

I work with OLIO to curate this newsletter, which means digging out all sorts of nifty tidbits to inform and inspire readers.

The biggest challenge? Encouraging changing behaviours without sounding judgemental, particularly in a world that is saturated with doomsday climate content.

For Zero Waste Weekly, the magic formula is balancing out hard-hitting climate news with accessible solutions

The climate crisis can feel so overwhelming that the best we’ve found to encourage behaviour change is to provide resources on the small changes people can make, and the information on why this really can make a difference.
